At least, no fewer than 2, 000 returnees from Bakassi peninsula in Cameroon have arrived Ikang in Cross River State and Mbo in Akwa Ibom State. National Coordinator of Bakassi Internally Displaced Persons, Prince Aston Inyang, confirmed to our correspondent that about 1, 500 had been received in Ikang, headquarters of Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The son of the Clan Head of Effiat in Mbo LGA Akwa Ibom State, Capt. Confidence Ukpoh, also said that over 400 returnees had arrived from Cameroon and gone to their various communities under the clan.

This came just as the Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service said officials of the command had since Wednesday been carrying out documentations of the IDPs at the Ikang border post.
